BACKLam Wu Fui
Biography
Lam Wu Fui was born in Jieyang, Guangdong, China in 1945. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, Guest Painter of Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, and Museum Expert Adviser appointed by Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
After having graduated from an art academy, Lam became a pupil of the renowned masters Liang Bo-yu and Chao Shao-ang respectively. He developed a poetic personal style in painting of flowers, birds, fish, insects and wild beasts, enriching these traditional themes with liveliness, freshness and the essence of the Lingnan School. He has held solo exhibitions in different parts of the world since 1978, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, England, Germany, America and Canada. His works were collected by a number of museums and individual collectors, such as Beijing National Art Museum of China, Guangdong Museum of Art, Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Shantou Museum, Zhuhai Chengfeng Art Museum, Taichung City Dadun Cultural Centre, National Museum of Singapore, Museum of Chinese Australian History, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC in HKSAR, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Library, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, etc.
His published works include: ‘Drawing Goldfish and Carps’, ‘Drawing Sea Fish and Tropical Fish’, ‘Selected Works of Lam Wu Fui’ and ‘Paintings of Lam Wu Fui’ (ten volumes in total).
